Performing Arts Advanced Production Festival

Our annual Performing Arts Advanced Production Festival kicks off tonight!
This festival is led by our third year students, who produce, direct and perform in various shows presented both inside and beyond the university.
This year's students will present a wide range of plays, from devised pieces about terrorism to plays about women in the second world war to a comic take on Macbeth – and much much more!
The first play will be presented tonight: If Not Now, When is shown at the Drama Studio 1 on the High Wycombe Campus; it is a thought provoking performance that uses physical theatre to explore a controversial subject very much in the news headlines.
All of the performances will be shown at Bucks New University's own studio theatres between the 16-25 February, before travelling to venues such as The New Wimbledon Theatre Studio, the Et Cetera Theatre in Camden, and local venues such as Norden Farm in Maidenhead and Duke St Theatre between 20 February and 6 March.
Full details of all performances are detailed in the Brochure below.
We very much hope to see you on one or more of the shows.

Bucks New University at Courtyard Theatre!

Courtyard Theatre performances by our second year students coming up!

All our second year students will be performing at the Courtyard Theatre in March.  Plays include Fugee by Abi Morgan and Pornography by Simon Stephens.
We took a trip to the Courtyard Theatre on the 4th February so that the students could meet the team, have a marketing talk and to see some shows in the space where they will be performing.
This is a very exciting opportunity and means our students are getting out into the professional world and getting themselves seen.

The Courtyard Theatre is situated on Bowling Green Walk, at 40 Pitfield Street, and is part of the trendy Hoxton Square in London, N1. They not only have a theatre but offer lots of courses and training session, too. Here is a link to their page and their full programme.

CINEWORLD VOUCHERS – BIG DEAL ON COURSE

We hope all our Performing Arts students go to the theatre and cinema regularly – it’s part of knowing what’s going on in our world.  We’ve arranged several trips already this year, and now we’re giving all our students £30 of Cineworld vouchers towards their cinema going.  As it’s Awards Season there’s some great films out there at the moment.  We hope you enjoy some good films!
And here is a link to the Cineworld in High Wycombe. Check out what is screening!

Great opportunity for student theatre companies!

If you are a student company that is involved in the creation of a high quality piece of ‘radical’ theatre or theatre that tests accepted ideas of the nature of theatrical experience, then you could have a chance to represent your work at the Flare International Festival of New Theatre 2015 (FLARE15), alongside the Manchester International Festival.

Selected participants spend a week in central Manchester performing, watching other radical new theatre selected internationally, meeting other makers from across Europe and beyond, and taking part in workshops, discussions, meals and parties?

FUTURE FLARES is the student strand of FLARE15. Current or graduating students can apply, proposing pieces between 10 and 45 minutes long, and artist-directed student projects are also eligible. Priority may be given to group projects over solo work, to ensure that the maximum number of students benefit.

Students can apply via the website www.flarefestival.com - deadline 31 March 2015
Go for it and good luck!!
